I believe in empowering individuals to make informed health decisions. I became a Board Certified Patient Advocate to help patients and their families navigate the complex healthcare system with confidence, clarity and impact.

I am committed to promoting health and wellness through education and personalized consulting services.

After 7 years of advocating for family and myself, I recognized the opportunity to broaden my scope and my impact.

I'm offering health care navigation and guidance, companion care and appointment attendance and medical billing support.

Contact me for an initial consultation to talk about your goals and my services. We'll then schedule a comprehensive review of your concerns, medical history and goals. This will include a review of diagnoses, medications and providers. This appointment can be up to 3 hours. From this meeting, I will develop an action plan focused on achieving your goals and a proposal for services.
Initial consultation: Free
Assessment: $175
Engagements: hourly fees, based on types of services provided
Empowered Care Advocacy does NOT provide the following:
"Are you in medicine?" I've spent the past 10 years in hospitals and doctors' offices for my parents, myself and my children. Rarely do I get through the appointment without getting asked this question.
From my own battle with breast cancer and my mother’s heart disease to my youngest daughter’s mental health treatment and my father’s journey with Parkinsons Disease and Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus, I've become intimately familiar with the emotional and logistical struggles patients and families face. I've learned the languages, the processes and the challenges, and it's what led me to becoming a Board Certified Patient Advocate.
I also spent 25+ years in communications and have a Master of Business Administration from the University of Georgia Terry College of Business. I spent the majority of my career in Corporate Communications with Cox Communications, so you could say I'm pretty adept at helping people understand complex systems and make informed decisions!
I specialize in effective communication with providers, ensuring that patients fully understand their diagnoses and treatment options. I am skilled in navigating medical billing and insurance, helping individuals avoid unnecessary stress and confusion. Beyond logistics, I provide compassionate support, empowering patients to advocate for themselves, ask the right questions, and make informed healthcare decisions. My passion lies in making the healthcare experience more accessible, less overwhelming, and centered on patient needs.
"I am deeply grateful for Amy who supported our family during a very difficult experience with an assisted living facility. From the beginning, Amy stepped in with compassion, professionalism and persistence to help us navigate a system that had clearly failed in many respects.
The assisted living facility had made repeated and serious mistakes: our loved one suffered an unnecessary fall due to staff inattention, was wrongly sent to the hospital despite being under hospice care and was denied timely access to prescribed morphine at the end of life. Adding to our frustration was lack of trained, competent staff able to meet even the most basic needs.
Amy was invaluable - she listened carefully to our concerns, ensured our voice was heard in meetings with the facility, and translated all the medical and regulatory jargon into plain language that we could understand. She knew exactly what to do in terms of documenting the errors, bringing unmet standards to the table and guided us through the complaints process. She helped us hold the facility accountable. She always kept my Dad and our family at the center of the conversation.
I cannot recommend Amy highly enough and would recommend her to anyone navigating the intricate web of the healthcare system who is finding themselves with care that is not meeting the standard." - K. Keable, 9/25/2025
